Whatever your sport, whatever your level I think you'll agree that sometimes we let our minds think negatively and therefore we perform badly.

It is now known beyond a shadow of a doubt that to reach your full potential it is absolutely imperative that you improve not only your technique but also your mental strength.

Together we can look with fresh eyes at your mental training and provide you with a toolkit of strategies that you can put into place before problems arise as well as complementing the skills you already have.

What you feel and think will have a profound effect on the way you perform.

Even when you know you've practised and prepared as much as possible your performance sometimes doesn't match your ability.

This is when you can start to feel and think negatively and you just can't see yourself performing well and lo and behold you don't.

If you feel positive and just know it's going to be a good day, chances are it will be.

Just imagine being able to think and feel that positive feeling every time you perform your sport.

We can work on the four quadrants of your game, before, during, in between and after to create new performance abilities for you.

What would it mean to your game if you could ... ?

Control Negative Emotions

Emotions like Anxiety have their place within performing. Too much and it may create poor performance. Not enough and you might not be giving 100%. It's about finding a balance and be able to control it.

Anger and frustration whether at yourself or others may lead to a lack of focus.

Learn to control these negative emotions so that you can continue to play to a high standard.

Increase Confidence

Being confident increases self esteem and a belief in yourself and your capabilities. So even during the tough times you can be confident in yourself to turn things around.

Looking, feeling and sounding confident can also have an effect on your team mate and opponents. Team mates could be more likely to sense your confidence which then can increase theirs. Your opponents can also sense that confidence which may in turn cause them to perform poorly.

Keep a Positive Attitude

Learn to stay positive even when things get difficult. We can all get into that pattern of thinking the worst especially when things are tough.

But what would it be like to control those thoughts and focus instead on the positive, enabling you to leave those times when you performed poorly behind you and take the positive experiences with you.

Mentally Rehearse Success

Using all of your senses to positively rehearse success before an event.

So really imagining yourself being there, seeing what you can see, hearing what you can hear, feeling what you're feeling and thinking what you're thinking. In this way your mind can be ready for the upcoming event.

Stay Totally Focussed

Sometimes the answer to being more focussed is to be less focussed. It's a skill that you can learn to bring about a balance between times when you need to be 100% focussed and times when it's ok to switch off.

Can you identify times in your sport when you could learn to be less focussed?

Reach your Goals

Setting realistic and achievable goals allows you to be able to make the necessary steps toward those things that you want in your future.

Having these mental skills can enable you to enter "The Zone" (the place you need to be in to obtain peak performance) more quickly and effectively giving you the chance to discover just how successful you can be.
